Seeding Vitality Arts
Vitality Arts programs inspire and enable older adults to learn, make and share the arts in ways that are novel, complex and socially engaging. Successful programs are led by teaching artists whose creative process and understanding of older adults bring joy, connection, improved health and well-being, and a renewed sense of purpose to older adults in community and residential settings.
In 2016, Aroha Philanthropies welcomed 15 nonprofit organizations from across the U.S. as participants in our inaugural Seeding Vitality Arts initiative. A year later, we are delighted to launch a second grant opportunity for Minnesota-based nonprofit organizations, Seeding Vitality Arts MN.
A new feature of the Minnesota initiative is a free, full-day, professional development opportunity for Minnesota nonprofit organizations interested in learning more about artful aging and in applying for the grant program. The professional development workshop will be held in Minneapolis in late July. Organizations that participate will be eligible to apply for a Seeding Vitality Arts MN grant, training and technical assistance.
Our goals for Seeding Vitality Arts MN are to:
- Demonstrate the power and impact of creative aging programs to a broad audience at both a national and statewide level.
- Encourage and equip arts and cultural organizations to develop participatory arts education programs for older adults.
- Encourage and equip organizations that serve older adults to develop arts education programs.
- Disseminate successful program implementation models.
Organizations selected to participate in the Seeding Vitality Arts MN program will receive an array of additional benefits and services.
